All Americans can agree that we need clean air and water, but Senator Sanders’ exclusively anti-fossil fuels stance oversimplifies a complex issue and threatens the supply of energy for Americans, our allies around the globe, and developing economies.
In response, I published a piece arguing that we mustembraceAmerican energy sources like liquified natural gas (LNG) to simultaneously lower harmful emissions, strengthen U.S. security and economic prowess, lift impoverished communities worldwide, and bolster democratic values.
This week, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals inAlliance for Hippocratic Medicine v. FDAfoundthat the Biden Administration's Food and Drug Administration (FDA) likely violated the law when it deregulated the dangerous life-ending chemical abortion pill Mifepristone. The favorable ruling limits online ordering and purchasing without proper medical consultation or oversight.
I am glad to see the Fifth Circuit struck down the Biden Administration's disregard for the safety of women and blatant politicization of the FDA—which is tasked with ensuring products are safe for Americans.
The ruling is a win for protecting the lives of the unborn and the safety of mothers. I am proud to have led the House of Representatives on an Amicus Brief to the Court on this important issue.
Lampasas Farm Tour
I had a wonderful time in Lampasas with the Texas Farm Bureau on a leadership panel andat the Edwards Ranch discussingthe drought, the upcoming Farm Bill, and the struggles facing producers.
Farmers and ranchers are here for us in the good times and the bad—and I will always support them!
Hearing From You
It has been a pleasure to be home in Texas traveling the district and hearing directly from so many of the wonderful communities in Texas-11. This week I hosted a Town Hall in Killeen and a Coffee with the Congressman in Harker Heights. I am proud to represent these strong military communities that contribute so much to our national security and Texas way of life.
Since January, I have hosted 26 public events across the district — each event providing excellent opportunities for me to hear your thoughts and concerns and answer questions. I spoke with Bob Campbell from the Odessa American about what I've been hearing across the district, and how I'm fighting on your behalf.Read more in his article here.
The Training Center of Central Texas
I had a great time meeting with Comprehensive Clinical Medical Assistant students and educators at The Training Center of Central Texas in Harker Heights. The Training Center provides top-tier healthcare certification and training needs for the residents of Bell County. The Center's 100% pass rate is a testament to its commitment to properly preparing healthcare professionals to care for our community.
First Day of School
It's hard to believe the summer is already over and our kids are back to school. I was lucky to be able to drive my three wonderful daughters to their first day of classes this week.
Back in March, the House passed H.R. 5, the Parents Bill of Rights, which I was proud to co-sponsor. The Parents Bill of Rights enshrines five basic rights that every parent will have when their kids are in school:
1. Right to know what’s being taught in schools and to see reading material
2. Right to be heard
3. Right to see the school budget and spending
4. Right to protect their child’s privacy
5. Right to be updated on any violent activity at school
All school districts should readily adopt these ideals and restore the importance of parents and families in education.
Good luck to all of our Texas-11 students, families, and educators! We are wishing you a safe and fantastic school year filled with growth, discovery, and achievement.
