Washington, D.C. — Today, RSC’s House Energy Action Team (HEAT) Chairman Rep. August Pfluger (R-TX), Republican Study Committee (RSC) Chairman Kevin Hern (R-OK), and HEAT Vice-Chairman Mike Carey (R-OH) released a joint statement following the introduction of H.R. 1, the Lower Energy Costs Act.

“Americans know how to fight skyrocketing inflation: unleashing American energy independence. The Lower Energy Costs Act is a complete rejection of the Biden Administration’s anti-energy policies in favor of increasing domestic energy production to halt runaway inflation and ensure the U.S. is not reliant on other countries for energy. Looking forward, HEAT remains committed to leading the charge among Republicans to advance even more pro-energy reforms.”

The legislation, introduced by House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-LA) along with Energy and Commerce Committee Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-Wash.), Natural Resources Committee Chair Bruce Westerman (R-Ark.), and Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chair Sam Graves (R-Mo.) as original co-sponsors, is the signature legislative package that aims to increase American energy production and exports while reducing regulatory burdens that make it harder to build American energy infrastructure and grow the U.S. economy.

The Lower Energy Costs Act restores American energy independence by:

  • Increasing domestic energy production
  • Reforming the permitting process for all industries
  • Reversing anti-energy policies advanced by the Biden Administration
  • Streamlining energy infrastructure and exports
  • Boosting the production and processing of critical minerals

The House Energy Action Team (HEAT) is a Republican Study Committee (RSC) initiative.
