Pfluger Sworn into 118th Congress

WASHINGTON, DC — Early Saturday morning, Congressman August Pfluger was officially sworn into the 118th Congress as the Representative for the 11th District of Texas for his second term.

Rep. August Pfluger: “Representing the 11th District of Texas in Congress is the honor of a lifetime. This District is the epicenter of National Security — with the most prolific oil & gas producing region in the world, a thriving agriculture industry, and incredible support for our military heroes.

“I look forward to championing policies in the new Republican majority to stop out-of-control inflation, regain American energy dominance, secure the border, and strengthen our military. Thank you for the opportunity to serve—let’s get to work."

Congressman Pfluger already introduced his first two pieces of legislation in the 118th Congress: a bill to block illegal migrants from voting in Washington, D.C., and a measure to force the Biden Administration to publish the number of Known and Suspected Terrorists (KSTs) crossing the U.S.-Mexico border.

Federal law bars noncitizens from voting in federal elections; but unfortunately, the DC Council passed a bill on October 18, 2022, that allows noncitizens to vote in local elections. Congressman Pfluger’s bill strikes down the DC City Council decision and affirms that only legal citizens have the right to vote in the United States.

In March of 2021, Rep. Pfluger was part of the congressional delegation to El Paso, TX who uncovered that potential terrorists were being apprehended crossing the U.S.-Mexico border.  Since that time, DHS refused to disclose the number of these potential terrorists to the public. They finally released the information after repeated requests from Rep. Pfluger and his Republican colleagues on the Homeland Security Committee. Rep. Pfluger’s bill will codify in law that the Secretary must report on a publicly-available webpage no later than the 15th of each month the number of potential terrorists apprehended, the geographic regions where the encounters occurred, and how they were encountered (by land, air, or sea).
