Pfluger Votes Against $1.9 Trillion in Partisan Spending

Wednesday, Congressman August Pfluger (TX-11) voted no on the so-called American Rescue Plan— the Biden Administration’s $1.9 trillion job-killing leftist wish list that sends billions to locked down states and closed schools, funds Democrat priorities like Planned Parenthood, and devotes only 9% of its funding to defeating COVID-19.

“I am extremely disappointed that Democrats have forced a hyper-partisan leftist wish list through both houses of Congress. This brings the total our Nation has spent on COVID-19 relief up to almost 6 trillion dollars, with our National Debt now at nearly $28 trillion. To put it in perspective, that means every American family of four is responsible for over $330,000 in debt.

“All this spending comes despite the Congressional Budget Office, a nonpartisan research arm of Congress, reporting that our economy will bounce back to over pre-pandemic GDP levels by mid-summer of this year. We do not need to be spending nearly $1.9 trillion on a package that will keep schools closed and pay people not to work.

“There are temporary and targeted measures we could take to help Americans recover from the COVID-19 pandemic, but this bill gets 91% of it wrong.”
