MIDLAND-ODESSA, Texas (KOSA) - A federal investment will bring upgrades to a transportation hub in the Midland-Odessa region.

U.S. Rep. August Pfluger announced he helped secure more than $14.3 million in funding for the Midland International Air and Space Port.

The project is aimed at expanding and modernizing the airport’s terminal.

The funding will support an expansion of more than 15,000 square feet, allowing the airport to better accommodate increasing passenger traffic in the Midland–Odessa region.

Pfluger said the investment will help the airport keep pace with the growth and increased travel demand.

“This investment will expand the terminal by over 15,000 square feet, bolstering its ability to handle the rapidly growing volume of travelers going in and out of Midland and Odessa,” he said.

The expansion is expected to improve passenger flow, increase capacity and support continued economic growth across the Permian Basin.

"As I have said before, Texas priorities deserve their share of federal support, especially when our area provides the critical food, energy, and national security the rest of the country has come to count on. That’s why I fought to successfully secure over $14.3 million for the Midland International Air and Space Port. This investment will expand the terminal by over 15,000 square feet, bolstering its ability to handle the rapidly growing volume of travelers going in and out of Midland and Odessa. This region powers our entire nation, and investing in the necessary infrastructure and technology to sustain it is critical to the strength of our energy industry and our economy. I am proud to bring these federal dollars back home." -Congressman August Pfluger (TX-11)
