SAN ANGELO, TEXAS — Members of Congress may be on a two-week recess, but U.S Rep. August Pfluger said the break is not time off, addressing key national issues, including the war in Iran and federal funding.

In an in-studio interview April 2, just hours after a primetime address by Donald Trump, Pfluger spoke with FOX West Texas about his next steps in the Department of Homeland Security funding fight, U.S. involvement in Iran and his reaction to the president’s remarks.

When asked about his message to Americans who may feel “confused, frustrated or even angry” about U.S. involvement in the war in Iran, Pfluger acknowledged the difficulty of the situation.

"... I understand that people don't want endless wars. They don't want forever wars. President Trump campaigned on that. I think he means that. But that doesn't mean that you turn a blind eye to a cancer that was about to metastasize into the largest state sponsor of terrorism than having a nuclear weapon. This is a very, very hard decision. The president made it. I support him in that. We also support his endeavor to end this very quickly,” Pfluger said.
