Background:

Community Project Funding requests happen through the House Appropriations Committee. Each year, offices open an application period for eligible local governments and nonprofit entities to submit proposals for federal funding consideration.

All submissions are reviewed for eligibility, community impact, financial transparency, and compliance with House rules. Under current House rules, each Member of Congress may submit no more than 15 Community Project Funding requests.

Selected projects are then submitted to the appropriate House Appropriations subcommittees depending on the project type. Each subcommittee applies its own criteria and conducts an independent review of all submissions received from Members across the country.

The Appropriations Committee makes final funding decisions and is subject to inclusion in the relevant annual appropriations legislation passed by Congress.

Graphics that summarize all of the funding secured for TX-11 are available for broadcast and distribution below:

What they're saying:

Police Chief Travis Griffith and the San Angelo Police Department:

“We are incredibly grateful to Congressman Pfluger for securing this critical funding for the San Angelo Police Department/Public Safety Communications Technology Upgrade Program. These resources will allow us to modernize our 911 dispatch and records systems, ensure CJIS compliance, and continue providing reliable, secure service to the citizens of San Angelo. This investment directly strengthens public safety for our community.”

Texas A&M University-Central Texas President Dr. Richard Rhodes:

“Congressman Pfluger continues to be an incredible supporter of Texas A&M University-Central Texas and the Killeen community. This $995,000 to develop a high-performance computing laboratory will provide the first-of-its-kind computing infrastructure in the region, enabling our researchers to develop cutting-edge techniques to fortify critical infrastructure and enhance national security while bolstering regional research capabilities. This increased research capacity will also help us build the next-generation skilled workforce in our region, complementing the $2.5 million Rep. Pfluger secured in FY24 to support our Military Talent Pipeline.”

Glenn Hegar, Chancellor of the Texas A&M University System:

“I’ve had the good fortune of witnessing firsthand the incredible partnership between A&M-Central Texas, Fort Hood, and Congressman Pfluger, and it is something special. I thank Congressman Pfluger for his support and congratulate Texas A&M University-Central Texas on this funding. The A&M System is committed to bolstering our national security enterprise and supporting our veterans. This project does both, and I look forward to seeing its positive results in the years to come.”

Ector County Judge Dustin Fawcett:

"Supporting Law Enforcement has always been something that Congressman Pfluger and I have had in common. When I reached out to him about supporting our men and women on the streets, I was glad to see he did not hesitate in fighting for this funding in this year's CFP's. I can always count on Congressman Pfluger backing our blue, something that we, here in Ector County, all take pride in doing."

Frontera CEO Mikki Hand:

“Menard is not just where we provide care — it is where we lead, plan, and grow as an organization. This investment reflects our confidence in Menard’s future and our belief that strong rural communities deserve strong rural institutions.”

Tom Green Commissioner Shawn Nanny:

“Exactly a year ago, I went and visited with Representative Pfluger and turned in an application for some community project funding to give the people at Mineral Wells some relief when the high waters come, and they can’t get out of their property. They can’t get to the main highway to get to work or to school, or vice versa, getting home. It’s been an ongoing problem. “He fought for it in his committees, and last week it finally came to fruition. Everything was signed, and we’ve got a million dollars on the way.”

Midland County Judge Johnson:

“Midland County is going to get the engineering and design done for that intersection. The intersection will be straightened up, and U-turn lanes will be installed. We’ll have to buy some right-of-way, but ultimately the intersection will be safer and far less confusing. I just want to say thanks to August Pfluger for continuing to fight for West Texas.”
