Congressman August Pfluger (TX-11) announced Daiwik Reddy, a Legacy High School student, as the winner of the 2025 Congressional App Challenge for Texas’s 11th Congressional District.

The Congressional App Challenge is a district-wide challenge for middle school and high school students, encouraging them to learn to code and inspiring them to pursue careers in computer science.

“I am proud to announce Daiwik Reddy as the winner of this year’s Congressional App Challenge for Texas’s 11th District,” said Rep. Pfluger. “inspired by his father, a nephrologist, Daiwik built an impressive and innovative app to help patients I need of kidney transplants.”

Reddy created the app KidneyWise, which is designed to help patients navigate the often consuming and stressful kidney transplant process. Through the app, patients can get on the transplant waitlist sooner by taking the interactive eligibility quiz.

The app also provides access to educational resources on kidney function and symptoms, healthy lifestyle guidance and support tools for patients and families.

“It’s a thoughtful, user-focused project with the potential to make a real difference for patients in need,” Pfluger added. “Daiwik’s hard work and creativity highlight the remarkable talent we have right here in TX-11, and I can’t wait to see what he accomplishes next.”

Rep. Pfluger called Reddy to inform him of his victory and congratulate him on winning the challenge.

Reddy made the following statement to highlight what inspired him to create the app and what the competition means to him:

“The motivation behind the app was based on my father, a nephrologist, who shared with me the challenges his patients face when seeking kidney transplants. Many patients come into his clinic confused about the transplant process, eligibility requirements and available options, even after consulting multiple healthcare providers in our region.

I created KidneyWise to streamline the complex transplant journey and provide patients with clear, accessible information about transplant qualifications and general kidney health knowledge.

By winning the Congressional App Challenge, I hope to have the opportunity to spread vital kidney health information across the nation, something I would never be able to do without this platform.”
