MIDLAND, TX—Congressman August Pfluger (TX-11) announced Daiwik Reddy as the winner of the 2025 Congressional App Challenge for Texas's 11th Congressional District. Daiwik, a student at Legacy High School in Midland, created an app called KidneyWise designed to help patients navigate the often confusing and stressful kidney transplant process. Through the app, patients can get on the transplant waitlist sooner by taking its interactive eligibility quiz. The app also provides access to educational resources on kidney function and symptoms, healthy lifestyle guidance, and support tools for patients and families.
"I am proud to announce Daiwik Reddy as the winner of this year's Congressional App Challenge for Texas's 11th District," said Rep. Pfluger. "Inspired by his father, a nephrologist, Daiwik built an impressive and innovative app to help patients in need of kidney transplants. It's a thoughtful, user-focused project with the potential to make a real difference for patients in need. Daiwik's hard work and creativity highlight the remarkable talent we have right here in TX-11, and I can't wait to see what he accomplishes next."
Rep. Pfluger called Daiwik to inform him of his victory and congratulate him on his accomplishment. Daiwik made the following statement to highlight what inspired him to create the app and what winning the competition means to him:
"The motivation behind the app was based on my father, a nephrologist, who shared with me the challenges his patients face when seeking kidney transplants. Many patients come into his clinic confused about the transplant process, eligibility requirements, and available options, even after consulting multiple healthcare providers in our region. I created KidneyWise to streamline the complex transplant journey and provide patients with clear, accessible information about transplant qualifications and general kidney health knowledge," saidDaiwik Reddy. "By winning the Congressional App Challenge, I hope to have the opportunity to spread vital kidney health information across the nation, something I would never be able to do without this platform."
