Congressman August Pfluger has passed more legislation this year than any other member of the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington, most notably the Congressional Review Act he sponsored to repeal President Biden’s natural gas tax, which President Trump signed into law March 17.

Now serving his third two-year term, the 47-year-old San Angelo Republican is a member of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce and chairman of the Subcommittee on Counterterrorism and Intelligence along with chairing the Republican Study Committee.

A source told the Odessa American that Pfluger averages working 80 hours per week. He represents the Permian Basin.

“Representing Texas’ 11th Congressional District is the honor of a lifetime,” he said Tuesday. “I’m proud to lead among House Republicans in the number of legislative bills passed on the House floor so far this Congress with three more advancing through committee.

“These legislative wins reflect my commitment to delivering real, meaningful results for TX-11 and for Americans across the country. Whether it’s strengthening our national security, cutting previously imposed burdensome red tape on businesses or standing up for the men and women who defend our freedoms, I’m not just talking about change, I’m working every day to make it happen.

“I’ll keep fighting to get these bills and more across the finish line and deliver for the people I serve.”

Pfluger’s bills that have passed the House and are being considered by the Senate are the Protecting American Energy Production Act, the Department of Homeland Security Restrictions on Confucius Institutes Act and the Aviator Cancer Examination Study Act.

His bills that have passed out of committees to be voted on by the House are the Countering Transnational Repression Act of 2025, a bill to prohibit non-citizens from voting in elections in the District of Columbia and a bill to repeal the Local Resident Voting Rights Amendment Act of 2022.

The Generative AI Terrorism and Risk Assessment Act has been passed by Pfluger’s subcommittee.
