Pfluger Fly-By: June 6, 2025

June 6, 2025

Friend,

Welcome back to the weekly Pfluger Fly-By, a roundup of events and updates to keep you informed about everything I'm doing week by week to represent you in Congress.

It was another busy week representing you in Congress! I started the week in the Permian Basin, where I hosted several of my Republican colleagues from the Energy and Commerce Committee for an energy site visit. I then headed to Washington, where I participated in a hearing on addressing the prevalence of illegal robocalls and robotexts, announced plans to lead a Homeland Security Subcommittee hearing to address the heightened threat of antisemitic terror attacks in the United States, and hosted SBA Administrator Kelly Loeffler at this week's RSC members meeting.

This week, I also had legislation advance through a subcommittee markup, introduced a commemorative resolution for the 100th birthday of First Lady Barbara Bush, and met with many Texans! The best part? I did it all with my youngest daughter by my side this week.

I've included some photos and highlights from the week below. You'll also find information on how my office can assist you with any federal issues you may be facing. As always, please don't hesitate to contact my office if we can ever be of assistance.

Best,

U.S. House Energy & Commerce Committee in the Permian Basin

I was honored to partner with House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Brett Guthrie (KY-02) to host several committee members in the Permian Basin this week. During the visit, we toured a uranium enrichment facility, participated in a roundtable discussion with industry executives, and toured a hydraulic fracturing site.

The Permian Basin is the heartbeat of the American energy industry. I believe that being able to see the region that powers the world firsthand is crucial for Members of Congress, which is why I am always eager to host them here. From my first day in Congress, I have vowed to be a voice for this region and industry in Washington.

I am working tirelessly in Congress—alongside my fellow members on the Energy and Commerce Committee and in partnership with the energy sector—to support reliable baseload power. Natural gas is essential to securing our electric grid, and I am committed to protecting it to strengthen America’s energy future.

Unlocking Our Domestic LNG Act of 2025

This week, the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Energy advanced my legislation through markup. The Unlocking Domestic LNG Act of 2025 will now move to be considered by the full committee.

This legislation would depoliticize the export of American liquefied natural gas (LNG) by eliminating the requirement for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to authorize its export and instead giving the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) sole authority over the approval process.

RSC Members Meeting with Small Business Administrator Kelly Loeffler

It was a privilege to host Small Business Administrator (SBA) Kelly Loeffler at the Republican Study Committee members' meeting this week. We discussed how crucial it is for Congress to extend the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act so Main Street businesses can continue to thrive. Together, we will Make Main Street America Great Again!

Counterterrorism Hearing on Rise in Antisemitic Terror Attacks

As Chairman of the House Homeland Security Subcommittee on Counterterrorism, I will be holding a hearing next week on the rise in antisemitic, anti-Israel terror attacks on U.S. soil. In the wake of the attack on pro-Israel supporters and the tragic deaths of two Israeli embassy employees in Washington, D.C., we are faced with yet another stark reminder of the violent hatred that has been allowed to proliferate since the October 7th attacks.

Antisemitic violence and harassment will not, and cannot, remain unchecked in the United States of America—whether it’s on college campuses or in our communities.

Addressing Illegal Robocalls and Robotexts

This week, I participated in a House Energy and Commerce Oversight Subcommittee hearing titled "Stopping Illegal Robocalls and Robotexts: Progress, Challenges, and Next Steps."

During the hearing, I addressed that while this is undoubtedly an issue for everyone who receives illegal robocalls and robotexts, it is especially alarming for physicians who are being interrupted by them while caring for patients. To highlight this issue, I showed screenshots from physicians in Texas-11 who have received back-to-back illegal robocalls.

Commemorating Barbara Bush's 100th Birthday

This Sunday, June 8th, 2025, will be the 100th Birthday of Second and First Lady Barbara Bush. In honor of her life and service to our country, I proudly introduced a commemorative Resolution today in the House of Representatives.

She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and a longtime resident of West Texas. First Lady Bush was a champion for American literacy, committed to uplifting future generations. Her legacy continues to inspire countless Americans who wish to enter public service.

Speaking with the Israel Allies Foundation

I was grateful to speak at the Israel Allies Foundation's Jerusalem Day event this week.

The violent hatred that has been allowed to proliferate since the October 7 attacks is unacceptable. Standing with Israel and the entire Jewish community is more important now than ever.

Meeting with Texans in Washington

This week, I met with several community leaders and partners in Washington, which is always a pleasure. Thank you all for taking the time to discuss how we can implement smart, commonsense policies to strengthen Texas-11!

Special Guest in Washington this Week

I was elated to be joined by my youngest daughter this week in Washington. We had an eventful week together, where she followed me to committee hearings, voted with me on the U.S. House floor, and much more. It is a joy to serve together!

Please watch a video where we discuss some of the highlights together HERE.
