May 2, 2025

Friend,

Welcome back to the weekly Pfluger Fly-By, a collection of events and happenings to keep you updated on everything I am doing week by week to represent you in Congress.

It was another big week in Washington—it marked the first 100 days of President Donald Trump's fast-paced second term in office, Homeland Security Committee Republicans advanced our budget recommendations to continue President Trump's border security successes, the TAKE IT DOWN Act passed the House, I had the privilege of meeting with many of you from Texas-11, and much more.

I have included some photos and highlights from the week. You can also find information on how my office can help you with any federal problems you may be having. As always, please do not hesitate to contact my office if we can ever be of assistance.

Best,

First 100 Days of President Donald Trump's Second Term

This week marked 100 days since President Donald Trump took office for his second term. To reflect on the first 1oo days, I released a video recapping what I believe are the top accomplishments Republicans have secured so far. I also penned an op-ed in the Odessa American outlining how Congressional Republicans are working with the Trump administration to deliver for Americans and restore Texas values.

In the op-ed, I wrote in part, "It is now one hundred days into his second term, and President Trump is turning campaign promises into measurable outcomes. With a Republican Congress working in tandem, we have begun reversing the damage done under the previous administration and laying the groundwork for a stronger, safer, and more self-reliant America..."

"These first 100 days have made one thing abundantly clear: under Republican leadership, commonsense is being restored, and the American people are once again being prioritized. Change is never easy, but President Trump’s willingness to shake up a broken system has already produced tangible, meaningful victories and has set the tone for where we are going. Illegal border crossings have dropped to historic lows, energy production is surging in the Permian Basin, and Texas values are no longer under siege — they’re leading the way."

U.S. House Committee on Homeland Security Advances Budget Recommendations

U.S. House Committee on Homeland Security Republicans voted to advance our budget recommendations this week to continue President Trump's border security successes by funding bold border security efforts for many years to come. This brings us one step closer to President Trump's "one big, beautiful bill."

The budget recommendations include completing the border wall by funding the border barrier system, increasing U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) personnel, upgrading CBP facilities and vehicles, enhancing drug detection and border surveillance, and more. These recommendations will secure our border and protect the American people.

TAKE IT DOWN Act Passes U.S. House

This week, I joined my colleagues in celebrating the overwhelming bipartisan passage of the TAKE IT DOWN Act in the House, which I was proud to help lead. This critical legislation is now headed to President Trump's desk to be signed into law! Once signed, this legislation will protect victims of deepfake nonconsensual intimate images from being posted online by criminalizing their publication, in addition to requiring websites to remove them quickly.

The rising popularity of AI requires federal legal protections that will empower victims of these heinous crimes, most of whom are women and girls. I applaud our decisive action we took to protect our children by passing this legislation. Read more about this legislation and my full statement on its passage here.

Additionally, you can watch my full remarks in support of the bill during a U.S. House Energy and Commerce Committee legislative markup here or by clicking the image below.

Defunding Universities Requiring the COVID-19 Vaccine

The COVID-19 pandemic opened Pandora’s box to a lengthy list of overreaching policies and mandates from the government, institutions, and companies alike. That's why I introduced the No Vaccine Mandates in Higher Education Act alongside Congressman Mark Messmer (R-IN) this week to prevent universities still requiring the COVID-19 shot from receiving federal funding.

As we work to restore common sense and liberties back to the American people, I am proud to co-lead this legislation to ensure universities can no longer force their students to have the COVID-19 shot. Read more about my bill in Fox News here or by clicking the image below.

RSC Podcast on Trump's First 100 Days

I was back in the studio this week, hosting the tenth episode of the Republican Study Committee's "Right to the Point" podcast with my colleagues, Congresswoman Sheri Biggs (SC-03) and Congressman Pat Harrigan (NC-10). We discussed President Trump's first 100 days in office, recent economic investments that will bring manufacturing back to the U.S., and more.

This week, I met with several community leaders and partners in Washington, which is always a pleasure. Thank you all for taking the time to discuss how we can implement smart, commonsense policies to strengthen Texas-11!
