TikTok Must Break Up With the Chinese Communist Party

This week the U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 7521,the Protecting Americans' Data and National Security against Foreign Adversaries Act. This legislation would require the popular video app TikTok to divest, or separate from, its Chinese-owned parent company ByteDance.

TikTok is fully owned and controlled by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Our legislation requires TikTok to sever ties with its Chinese partners to protect the privacy and safety of American citizens. Additionally, TikTok boasts more than 170 million American users, making it a valuable propaganda tool for the CCP. We cannot allow our country’s biggest adversary to spy on American citizens through their phones and promote or suppress information. I am proud to have voted to protect the privacy of Americans and fully counter the CCP on our own soil.

Non-Citizens Should Not Be Election Administrators

I introduced the No Foreign Persons Administering Our Elections Act, which prohibits noncitizens from serving as election administrators for U.S. federal elections. Unfortunately, this is already happening. Just last month, a Chinese national was sworn in to serve on the San Francisco Election Commission.

American elections are the cornerstone of our democracy, and entrusting their administration to noncitizens undermines the very essence of our nation's sovereignty. We must safeguard the integrity of our electoral system from foreign influence at every level. Read more in Fox News here or below.

We Must Protect U.S. Elections at All Costs

I joined Mornings with Maria to discuss President Biden's $7.3 Trillion budget, which includes $4.7 billion for flying, housing, and feeding illegal migrants. Border Patrol Agents need a President who has the political will to close the border. We also discussed my new legislation to block noncitizens from serving as election administrators. The Senate Must Hold an Impeachment Trial for Secretary Mayorkas

I recently penned an op-ed in the New York Post with Rep. Andrew Garbarino of New York who serves on the Homeland Security Committee with me. Our column lays out the necessity for the  Senate to hold an impeachment trial for Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. The border crisis Secretary Mayorkas has created is affection all Americans—from Texas to New York. Any Senator who votes to dismiss the impeachment will be dismissing the legitimate concerns of millions of Americans. Read our full article here or below.

Roundtable Discussion on DHS Office of Intelligence and Analysis

As Chairman of the Homeland Security Subcommittee on Counterterrorism, Intelligence, and Law Enforcement, I held a roundtable discussion on the role of the Department of Homeland Security's Office of Intelligence and Analysis (I&A). I&A is responsible for accessing, receiving, and analyzing law enforcement information from federal agencies. The Department of Homeland Security should be laser-focused on deterring threats and protecting Americans.

Fort Concho Elementary in Washington

It was a pleasure to meet with wonderful students from Fort Concho Elementary during their visit to our Nation’s Capitol. We had a lively discussion about the three branches of government and their role in our everyday lives. It was an honor to present the class and their teacher Penny Watson with a Congressional Certificate and flag flown over the Capitol in their honor. Thank you all for visiting Washington and taking the time to meet with me!
