President Biden's Mass Amnesty Order is Political Pandering
On Tuesday, President Biden announced a new program that will allow over 500,000 illegal aliens living in the United States to apply for “parole-in-place” and receive a pathway to citizenship. Make no mistake, this is political pandering in an election year.
Within the same month, we have seen the President pretend to shut down the border with a meaningless executive action and now grant mass amnesty to half a million illegal aliens.
This plan comes as American citizens are dying because of President Biden’s open border. In Houston, a 12-year-old girl was murdered by two illegal aliens from Venezuela who crossed the border illegally less than a month ago, and this week an illegal alien from El Salvador was charged with the brutal murder of Rachel Morin, a 37-year-old Maryland mother of five. The monster who murdered Rachel Morin crossed our border illegally as a “gotaway” near El Paso in February 2023, where he slipped into our country without apprehension.
Each year, I have the privilege of nominating a select group of individuals for admission to the United States service academies. This week I was delighted to honor our 2024 Texas-11 Service Academy Appointees who have dedicated their lives in service to our country and will be attending military service academies this upcoming fall. They are all incredible students with amazing talent and character, and I am humbled to play a small part in their journeys.

Terror Continues to Infiltrate the Southern Border
Unfortunately, the unacceptable security failures that have allowed individuals with terrorist ties to enter the United States through the Southwest Border have become an alarming pattern under the administration. The most recent example being eight Tajik nationals with ties to ISIS who entered the United States via the southern border and were arrested this month under suspicion of plotting a terrorist attack.
The Department’s prioritization of catch, process, and release, presents a grave danger to national security. As the Chairman of the Counterterrorism Subcommittee on Homeland Security, I have led in repeatedly and forcefully highlighting the security vulnerabilities inherent in the massive influx of illegal aliens at our border. The Biden Administration and the Department, however, continue to hide their heads in the sand, ignoring the ‘blinking red lights’ everywhere.” I joined my colleagues on the U.S. House Committee on Homeland Security demanding answers from DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas about how these individuals were processed and released. Probing Meta for Hiding Political Content on Social Media
In February, Meta implemented a new policy decision to actively opt out their users from "political and social" content on Instagram and Facebook. This decision is questionable because users are capable of choosing the content they engage with. I wrote a letter to Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg with Congressman Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) urging Meta to prioritize transparency and uphold the principles of free speech and open communication. Wildfires in New Mexico
Camille and I are saddened to see the destruction and loss of life due to the recent wildfires in New Mexico. Please join me in praying for and sending necessary resources to our neighbors as they rebuild their communities, homes, and businesses.
Juneteenth
This week marked the anniversary of Juneteenth, when news of the Emancipation Proclamation reached Galveston, Texas, on June 19th, 1865. This event marked the end of slavery in Texas and has become a powerful symbol of freedom and equality. Let us all take the time today to reflect on the progress we have made as a nation.
2024 Congressional App Challenge
My office is now accepting submissions for the 2024 Congressional App Competition. The competition is open to all 6-12 grade students in the 11th Congressional District of Texas and is an opportunity for students to develop their skills in computer science and STEM.
The deadline is October 24th, 2024 at 12:00 pm ET. Students can register and upload their apphere.
PRIZES
The winner from the 11th Congressional District, chosen by a panel of expert judges, will be featured on the House of Representatives website,House.gov, as well as onCongressionalAppChallenge.us. The winning app will also be displayed in the U.S. Capitol among other winners from across the country. Additional sponsor prizes to be announced.
RULES
Students will create an application (aka app) for PC, web, tablet, robot, mobile, etc Any programming such as C, C++, JavaScript, Python, Ruby, or "block code" will be accepted.
There are NO LIMITS on the application theme or topic.
Students may work individually or in teams made up of no more than four.
