Pfluger: VP Harris must communicate that our border is closed
Washington, DC,
April 14, 2021
Wednesday, in a House Foreign Affairs Committee Western Hemisphere Subcommittee hearing, Congressman August Pfluger (TX-11) pressed a senior Biden Administration official, Ricardo Zúniga, the Special Envoy for the Northern Triangle within the U.S. Department of State, about the Biden Administration’s mishandling of the massive illegal immigration surge along the southern border. Congressman Pfluger drew attention to the HHS Emergency Intake Site for unaccompanied minors in Midland by stating, “The HHS officials in Midland have told me specifically that this is the largest amount and percentage of children that are being trafficked in the history of these issues, so I am very concerned … I’d like to understand what Vice President Harris is going to do.” As of Wednesday, Congressman Pfluger’s letter to VP Harris imploring her to visit the Midland facility has gone unanswered for seven days. Marking the Vice President’s 21st Day without a news conference since being tapped for border crisis role, Pfluger said, “It is imperative that VP Harris communicate that our border is closed. We will address the situation and the root causes in the best way we can, but right now, that message is not being delivered.” |
