Pfluger Votes Against Democrat Election Reform Power-Grab

March 3, 2021

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Tonight, Congressman August Pfluger (TX-11) voted against H.R.1, a sweeping election-reform bill that federalizes our election system, sends taxpayer dollars to Congressional and Presidential campaigns, and makes temporary pandemic-related election practices permanent. The bill is given the distinction of being called ‘House Resolution 1’ because it is the Democrat Party’s number one priority. Congressman Pfluger released a statement following his no vote:

“The integrity of our election system could not be more important,” said Congressman Pfluger. “Unfortunately, my Democrat colleagues have put forward a hyper-partisan bill that further undermines America’s faith in our election system. This 800-page bill is a twisted conglomerate of policies meant to consolidate power in Washington, DC and fully cement the swamp. It will ban state voter ID laws, fund political candidates, expand unreliable voting practices like ballot harvesting and paper ballots, and even mandate that violent felons must be allowed to vote. We can all agree that we need common-sense reforms to strengthen our election system, but H.R.1 does just the opposite.”

Yesterday, Congressman Pfluger spoke on the House Floor in opposition to H.R.1. Watch here.
