Pfluger Leads Texas Ag Task Force

Today, Congressman August Pfluger (TX-11) was announced as a leader of the Texas Ag Task Force in Congress by the Lone Star State’s Republican delegationthe largest GOP delegation in Congress. Congressman Pfluger released a statement following the announcement of the task force:

“The 11th District of Texas is one of the top agriculture-producing regions in the countrywith over 15 million acres of farm and ranch land worked by diligent producers who provide not only this district, but the entire Nation, with the food and fiber we need to survive,” said Congressman August Pfluger (TX-11). “I am excited to lead this task force with several of my colleagues and ensure that Texans present a strong, united voice as we advocate for the hundreds of thousands of hard-working farmers and ranchers in the Lone Star State.”

“Agriculture is crucial to our Texas economy and way of life. These lawmakers will lead our efforts in Congress to protect farmers, ranchers and the million jobs in our state tied to agriculture,” said Rep. Kay Granger of Fort Worth and Rep. Kevin Brady of The Woodlands, who lead the Texas GOP delegation. 

House Agriculture Committee Republican Leader G.T Thompson welcomed the united Texas effort in agriculture, saying, “Texas is the epicenter of production agriculture and is essential to our nation’s food security. The Texas Ag Task Force will be an important part of staying close to Texas producers as we craft the next Farm Bill and advance policies that strengthen American agriculture and rural America.” 

Congressman August Pfluger will co-chair the task force alongside fellow co-chairs Representatives Michael Cloud, Jodey Arrington, Ronny Jackson, and Tony Gonzales. Task Force members include Representatives Michael Burgess, Louie Gohmert, Chip Roy, Pete Sessions, Roger Williams, and Beth Van Duyne. 

The Texas Ag Task Force will promote and champion federal policies that strengthen Texas agriculture and rural communities, engage producer groups and other key stakeholders in the state, develop pro-agriculture strategies in trade, taxation, rural development, environmental regulation, rural broadband and the 2023 Farm Bill, advocate to the USDA, EPA and other agencies within the Biden Administration, and work closely with other members of Congress and the top Republican of the House Agriculture Committee, Rep. G.T. Thompson.
