Pfluger Joins Bill to Block Foreign Citizens From Voting

Thursday, Congressman August Pfluger (TX-11) joined South Carolina Republican Jeff Duncan in introducing the Protecting our Democracy by Preventing Foreign Citizens from Voting Act to block federal funding for state and local governments that allow non-U.S. citizens to vote.

Rep. August Pfluger (TX-11): “In yet another shocking, nonsensical move, the liberal haven of New York is now allowing more than 800,000 non-citizens to vote in their elections. This is ludicrous with blatant election security implications. I am proud to introduce legislation to prohibit federal funding for states and localities that allow illegal immigrants/non-citizens to vote.”

The Protecting Our Democracy by Preventing Foreign Citizens from Voting Act would:

  1. Prohibit federal funds from going to any state or local government that allows foreign citizens to vote in any Federal, State, or local election;
  2. Require, upon application, approval, and receipt of any federal funds, the state or local government must certify they do not allow foreign citizens to vote; and
  3. Make the measure effective on or after the date of enactment.
