Congressman Pfluger Welcomes Speaker Mike Johnson to the Permian Basin to Kick off Energy Week

WASHINGTON, DC — Congressman August Pfluger (TX-11) proudly hosted House Speaker Mike Johnson (LA-04) in the Permian Basin for a rig tour with Diamondback Energy to kick off Energy Week in Congress. The U.S. House will vote on pro-energy legislation, including Rep. Pfluger's bill to repeal President Biden's harmful natural gas tax, this week as House Republicans work to restore American energy dominance.

"It is a privilege to welcome Speaker Mike Johnson to the Permian Basin to kick off Energy Week and recognize the incredible contributions of the oil & gas industry," said Congressman August Pfluger. "I am extremely proud of the Permian Basin and all that it represents. From the hardworking men and women on our oil rigs to the innovative minds in our research labs, this region embodies the American spirit of ingenuity and resilience. The Speaker's visit underscores the importance of our industry and community. House Republicans are committed to fighting the anti-energy agenda of the Biden Administration and promoting pro-energy policies to restore American energy dominance and grow American jobs. Together, we will continue to lead the way towards a more secure and prosperous future for our nation."

“Representative Pfluger and I, of course, both represent states that know the value of this American energy and I've known this my whole life," said Speaker Mike Johnson. "You know, we all recognize that the American people recognize it, but unfortunately, our Commander in Chief obviously does not. The Biden administration, there's no other way to say this, they've had a radical anti-energy agenda. And it's not only bad for America, bad for our economy, it's bad for our allies around the world as well.”
